FLAVOUR'S CONCERT AND THE ALLEGED MASS RAPE CONTROVERSY

Last weekend, March 31st, was much of an ordeal in Enugu state as several cases of rape, assault and theft reportedly took over the social media as relating to the concert hosted by one of Nigeria's finest artist from the East, Chinedu Okoli popularly known as Flavour.

Statistically, about 20 ladies were said to have been victimized and gang raped while some left the show naked with their dresses torn by some hoodlums at the premises of the concert which held at the Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, as reported by one @Naturize on Instagram.

The concert headlined Flavour has host and featured raving artists in the East like, Phyno, Zoro, Tekno amongst host of other artists to however delight fans. It was a free show held in Flavour's hometown, the place he grew up, particularly to share his time with his fans, friends and family for the support and love over the years which was supposed to be well accepted and scandal free but the state of crime in Enugu has however affected his good intentions putting him at risk of being sued amongst other controversies likely to follow up the case.

Many of the reported cases on social media exposed the state of crime in the state referring back to past incidences as saying this is not the first it is happening in concerts held in the state. One of the people that carried the news to social media, MsCole, mentioned that a similar case was reported last year at PHYNO'S FEST 2017 were some ladies got raped and that nothing was done to address the crime at the time. Another informant on twitter, @villageparrot talked about the need to address this rape culture in Enugu which was seconded by @Chuklegend amongst many others who want  these culprits curbed and punished to teach the rest a lesson as well as to keep crimes in the state checked.

Some of the fans have blamed the situation on lack of proper security planning on the part of the organizers as well as on logistics because the show was a free show which resulted in the chaos as all manner of people got their passes into the premises.
Meanwhile, more attention is now on the case as it is said that the state Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi was in attendance which got some people spreading the news that the show was sponsored by the state government hence making them responsible but the Commissioner of Information of the state on Sunday opposed the news

The state police have been on the alert to see that culprits are arrested and punished justly, this was made known in a statement presented by the PPRO in the state, Ebere Amarazu. She also said in her statement that one of the suspect was however nabbed and his working with them in the investigation to nab others involved in the crime.

This is rather a very controversial case and it is just starting as it is said one @Bugzydvinci on twitter, he advised asking the victims to summon courage to tell their stories to help the case and one 'Onyema Isa' already have come forward to claim that his friend's sister was among the alleged victims. MsCole, one of the reactors on the case on social media, questioned if this is the people of the state passing a message that concerts should be banned there till the case is very well addressed as this is a heavy matter that needs medical follow up and quick attention as it is.
It will be recalled that this similar case happened at one of 'Drake and Future's concert' in the US that both artists got sued for it, tweeted by @Bugzydvinci

Meanwhile, the many efforts by newsmen to get through to Flavour and the organizers so as to address this issue have been futile.
